Karachi, In a significant move to combat banditry in the Kutch area, IG Sindh Rifaat Mukhtar Raja has called for a joint strategy between the police forces of Sindh and Punjab. A meeting presided over by IG Raja discussed the adoption of a comprehensive plan and the implementation of decisive actions to address the challenges posed by bandits in the region.
According to Sindh Police, the meeting saw participation from senior law enforcement officials, including the RPO Bhawalpur and DIGs of Sukkur and Larkana, along with their respective SSPs and DPOs. These officials briefed on the successes and outcomes of the collaborative efforts between the Sindh and Punjab Police in counteracting the activities of dacoits in the Kutch area, with the operation receiving unanimous support and approval.
IG Raja highlighted the increasing challenges faced by police and law enforcement agencies in preventing citizens from falling victim to deceptive practices facilitated through social media. He stressed the importance of enhancing the effectiveness of police checkpoints in the rough terrains of Sindh and Punjab and ensuring rigorous patrolling and snap checking on highways as part of the joint strategy.
Furthermore, IG Raja emphasized the need for establishing a permanent communication mechanism with the families of abductees to facilitate their recovery and called for all possible measures to monitor those entering the rough areas with the assistance of local inhabitants. He advocated for a collaborative approach, urging Sindh and Punjab Police to engage other stakeholders and law enforcement agencies in their efforts against dacoity in the Kachcha area.
The directive for DIGs of both provincial police forces to forge strong, sustainable, and effective inter-connections underscores the commitment to a solid inter-provincial strategy against banditry. Senior officers from both provinces concurred that coordination and the revision of operational procedures are essential for the effective prevention of robberies and ensuring the success of joint strategies.
The meeting also saw participation from various divisions within the Sindh Police, indicating a unified approach to tackling the menace of banditry in the Kutch area and reinforcing the resolve to protect citizens from criminal activities.
