Sindh Allocates Rs. 25 Billion for Solarization to Reduce Electricity Costs

Karachi: Sindh Minister for Energy, Development, and Planning, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, has announced a substantial allocation of Rs. 25 billion in the budget aimed at providing relief in electricity costs through solarization. This move aligns with Chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s vision of offering affordable and free electricity, particularly targeting the underprivileged sectors of society. The Sindh Energy Department is prioritizing the distribution and implementation of solar panels throughout the province.

The Minister highlighted that various public welfare initiatives will be executed using a block budget, enabling the government to address diverse needs effectively. He emphasized that the Sindh government possesses a sufficient majority to pass the budget independently, without external support.

Nasir Shah also addressed the conduct of opposition members during the Chief Minister’s budget speech, criticizing them for obstructing proceedings despite prior agreements on speech timings. He stressed that political leadership should remain above targeted disruptions, a stance initially agreed upon by the opposition.

Additionally, Shah underscored the role of elected representatives as the voice of the people within assemblies. He noted that through block allocations, proposals from assembly members will be considered, while describing the opposition’s protest as atypical and inappropriate.

Reaffirming the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) commitment to serving Sindh, the Minister stated that the party has consistently worked without discrimination, with a particular focus on Karachi. On international matters, Shah mentioned the PPP’s stance against war, while noting global Muslim satisfaction over recent events involving Israel’s military installations.

The initiative reflects the Sindh government’s ongoing efforts to enhance public welfare through strategic energy solutions and legislative measures.
