Sikhs urge Modi to provide unhindered access to Kartarpur Corridor in Pakistan

Islamabad, November 16, 2021 (PPI-OT):Pakistan has given special permission to the Sikh pilgrims from other countries to attend the Sikh festival. During their stay in Pakistan, Sikh pilgrims would pay obeisance at different Gurdwaras including Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur.

Opening of Kartarpur corridor, the report said, is a shining example of Pakistan’s efforts to promote interfaith harmony and the issuing of visas to Sikh pilgrims and opening of Kartarpur Corridor are reflections of the primacy Pakistan accords to religious minorities.

On the hand, India under Modi is suffering from Hindutva hate incitement against all minorities, the report said and added that Hindutva forces preach dominance of Hindu religion over other faiths.

The Sikh community in India has given the Modi government in India a deadline of November 19 to provide unhindered access to the Kartarpur Corridor in Pakistan. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has written a letter to Prime Minister Modi urging him to reopen the corridor.

The report maintained that the opening of Kartarpur Corridor by Pakistan has been immensely appreciated by the Sikh community around the globe while the Indian govt is unwilling to reopen Kartarpur Corridor to allow Indian Sikhs to visit their holy sites in Pakistan.

Ever since Modi’s ascension to power, crimes against religious minorities have seen an upward trend in India and Sikhs are no exception.
