Sikhs for Justice Supports Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks on Sikh Concerns in India

Washington: The Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), an organization that supports the Khalistan movement, has publicly endorsed remarks made by Rahul Gandhi, the Indian Leader of Opposition, concerning the anxiety faced by Sikhs in India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the SFJ released a statement backing Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on Sikh anxieties in India. The statement highlighted that Gandhi’s comments reflect the longstanding concerns of the Sikh community regarding their safety and political status in India. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a representative of the SFJ, emphasized that Gandhi’s words resonate deeply with the organization’s stance on the issue of Khalistan—a proposed independent state for Sikhs. Pannun described Gandhi’s statement as not only bold and pioneering but also grounded in the factual history of challenges faced by Sikhs in India since the country’s independence in 1947.

The endorsement from SFJ comes at a time when the Khalistan movement has seen varying degrees of support and opposition within the Sikh community, both in India and globally. The movement seeks to create an independent state for Sikhs, primarily in the Punjab region of India. The support from an international organization like SFJ for a prominent Indian political figure underscores the complex and sensitive nature of Sikh politics and identity issues within the broader context of Indian national politics.
