Washington: On the occasion of India’s 76th Republic Day, Sikhs assembled outside the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C., to protest and advocate for the establishment of Khalistan, an independent Sikh homeland.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the protesters, holding Khalistani flags, called for a global referendum to decide the creation of Khalistan in Indian Punjab. Sikh leader Dr. Bakhshish Singh criticized the Indian government, labeling Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “killer” of Sikhs and other minorities. He underscored the increasing global demand for Khalistan and expressed confidence in achieving a separate homeland for Sikhs.
The protest in Washington is part of a wider movement, with Sikhs globally advocating for a peaceful referendum to determine Punjab’s future.
The demonstrators reiterated their commitment to establishing a sovereign Sikh state, emphasizing the ongoing struggle for Sikh rights and recognition.
