London, October 02, 2023 (PPI-OT): In a powerful display of solidarity, Sikhs in the UK barred the Indian High Commissioner, Vikram Doraiswami, from entering Glasgow Gurdwara Albert in protest against injustices to the Sikh minority in India and their murder by Indian secret agencies abroad.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the video documenting this confrontation serves as a stark reminder of the pain and anger felt by the Sikh community. As Doraiswami attempted to explain his position, these resolute Sikh men, grieving the loss of a fellow community member, stood firm in their demand for justice. Ultimately, they compelled Doraiswami to leave the sacred premises of the Gurdwara on September 29.

This incident has resonated far beyond Glasgow. Many international and Indian media outlets have broadcasted this powerful moment, catapulting the call for justice onto the global stage. The Sikh community’s anguish is understandable, as they demand accountability for all those responsible for this heinous crime.

Meanwhile, Sikh organisations in the United Kingdom (UK) have said that the ban initiated after the 1984 attack on Sri Darbar Sahibon Indian diplomats from entering the UK Gurdwaras remains in place across the country. They also reiterated their commitment to the Khalistan movement.

In a collective statement from Panthic Jathebandia in the UK, hundreds of Sikh organisations reacted to accusations made against them in Indian media after the Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, was denied entry into Gurdwara Albert in Glasgow by a group of Sikh activists protesting the killing of pro-Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar by the India state agents.

A row erupted after the Sikh youth stopped the Indian high commissioner who had to flee the premises.

The Sikh group called upon the Indian high commission to respond to the accusations levelled by the Canadian Prime Minister regarding their involvement in the assassination of Nijjar in Canada. They also urged the commission to acknowledge their role in the death of pro-Khalistan activist Avtar Singh Khanda, who died two days after Nijjar’s assassination.
