Sikh organizations urge UN, HR bodies to play role in release of Kashmiri detainees 

Jammu, October 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sikh organizations including Sikh Intellectuals Circle Jammu and Kashmir, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), International Sikh Federation and Sikh Students Federation Jammu and Kashmir have appealed to the UN and world human rights organisations to take cognizance of the violation of the basic rights of the Kashmiri political prisoners lodged in various jails of India and play role in their early release.

Senior Sikh leaders at an emergency meeting chaired by S. Narinder Singh Khalsa in Jammu expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of senior APHC leader, Altaf Ahmed Shah, in the Indian custody and termed at a cold-blooded murder.

They paid homage to Altaf Ahmad Shah and showed solidarity with the bereaved family. They said that Altaf Shah, who was son-in-law of great Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Gilani, always stood for the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Sikh leaders denounced the Indian authorities for denying the timely proper medical treatment to Altaf Shah in Tihar jail. They said now the life of other Kashmiri political prisoners is in grave danger.
