Sikh bodies, parties meet to launch united struggle for political cause

Amritsar, May 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):Representatives of various Sikh organizations and political parties assembled at one platform to form a joint action plan for the launch of a movement for Sikh political cause and to ensure release of all Sikh political prisoners.

Three important resolutions were unanimously passed at a meeting convened by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), an organization in India responsible for the management of gurdwaras and Sikh places of worship, at Teja Singh Samundri Hall in Amritsar, the other day.

The meeting decided to constitute a joint committee to play a lead role, fixing appointment with the President of India, Prime Minister, Home Minister, besides Chief Ministers and Governors of states where the matter of Sikh prisoners was lying pending. Another resolution passed on the occasion called for initiating an intensified struggle, if the Indian government failed to meet their demands peacefully.

The meeting resolved to appeal to all the Sikh parliamentarians irrespective of their political affiliations, to join the collective cause of the Sikh nation. It is worth mentioning here that Sikhs in Indian Punjab and diaspora are heading a powerful movement for an independent homeland for the Sikh community in the name of Khalistan.
