SIFC Prioritizes Energy Sector Development with New Gas Production in Balochistan

Islamabad: The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has announced a strategic focus on the development of the energy sector, marking a significant step in addressing the country’s energy needs. This announcement comes as the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) begins gas production in Dera Bugti district, Balochistan, showcasing the company’s technical capabilities.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, OGDCL successfully tapped into gas reserves at a depth of 1,345 meters through well drilling. This achievement highlights OGDCL’s continued efforts to enhance the nation’s energy resources, following previous discoveries of gas deposits in the Khairpur district of Sindh.

The SIFC’s emphasis on expanding the energy sector aligns with national priorities, aiming to boost economic growth and energy security. The development in Balochistan not only represents a technical milestone for OGDCL but also underscores the potential for further exploration and production activities in the region.
