Sibi Officials Demand Strict Action Against Absentee Teachers to Improve Education Quality

Sibi: In a significant push for educational accountability, Deputy Commissioner Sibi Jahanzeb Sheikh emphasized the need for stringent actions against permanently absent teachers, citing their adverse impact on students’ futures. During a meeting with the District Education Group, Sheikh outlined a series of measures aimed at enhancing the quality of education in the region, including the dismissal of teachers absent for extended periods.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting saw the participation of several key district education officials including Additional Deputy Commissioner Sabi Ali Asghar Magsi, Assistant Commissioner Sabi Mansoor Ali Shah, and District Education Officer Abdul Sattar Longo, among others. The officials reviewed the current educational challenges and discussed strategies to address them effectively.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the repercussions of teacher absenteeism on educational standards and stressed the importance of consistent actions against such negligence. He suggested that salary cuts and dismissals should be streamlined across a single platform to maintain discipline and accountability. The meeting also revealed that out of 20 non-functional schools identified earlier, seven have been restored and are now operational.

Further details shared during the meeting indicated that during 69 official visits to schools, 29 teachers were found absent. Sheikh advocated for the closure or relocation of non-existent schools that only appear on records, to areas with higher population densities where they are needed most. He reiterated that no concessions should be granted to teachers who fail to fulfill their duties, as promoting quality education is crucial for sustainable development and meeting contemporary challenges.

Sheikh instructed education department officials to utilize all available resources to ensure teacher attendance and enhance the facilities at educational institutions, underscoring the administration’s commitment to improving education standards across the district.
