Sibi Launches Pakistan’s First Digital Agriculture Census

Sibi, A pivotal meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Jahanzeb Shaikh in Sibi has set the stage for Pakistan’s seventh Agriculture Census, marking the country’s first digital approach to agricultural data collection. This initiative reflects Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to modernizing its agricultural sector data for enhanced decision-making and policy development.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting saw participation from key figures such as Additional Deputy Commissioner General Ali Asghar Magsi and SSP Sibi Inayatullah Banglazai. District Coordinator Statistics Yar Ali Gashkuri briefed that following the successful completion of the digital population census, the Agriculture Census will employ advanced digital tools including tablet-based data collection and digitized mapping techniques. The comprehensive training for enumerators and supervisors is set to begin on July 22, with the actual data collection starting on September 1 and continuing through October.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the critical importance of accurate and current agricultural data for Pakistan, an agriculturally driven country. He assured full support for the census teams, with security assistance from police and Levies forces in different zones. The session also addressed the need for inter-departmental cooperation, with Shaikh expressing dissatisfaction with the poor attendance of some officers, directing that notices of disapproval be issued to reinforce the seriousness of the census efforts.
