SIA Arrests Kashmiri Man in Srinagar Under Controversial Charges

Srinagar: A Kashmiri individual was arrested by the State Investigation Agency (SIA) during a raid in Srinagar, in the region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The arrest, involving charges from a decade-old case, has sparked renewed concerns over the treatment of Kashmiri residents under Indian authority.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the SIA, supported by personnel from Indian forces, apprehended Ahmad Ulla Malla at his residence in the Dalal Mohalla area of Srinagar. The arrest is linked to a 2013 case initially registered at Police Station Tarzoo in Sopore, Baramulla district, which pertains to the killing of four policemen. Originally handled by Sopore Police, the case was transferred to the SIA earlier this year for further investigation.

Additionally, the SIA claims to have uncovered evidence of the individual’s involvement in funding pro-freedom organizations through Bitcoin transactions, allegedly to incite mass agitation in the territory. This comes as Indian troops intensify cordon and search operations across Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch districts, leading to widespread allegations of harassment and coercion of local residents to extract information about militant activities.
