Sheikhupura Joins Punjab’s Expanding Safe City Network

Lahore: In a significant advancement under the “Safe Punjab Vision,” Sheikhupura has been inaugurated as the fourth Safe City in Punjab by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. This event marks the beginning of a broader initiative set to include 18 more cities by March, with another four cities scheduled for safe city status next week.

According to Chief Minister of Punjab, the inauguration included the unveiling of the video wall at the Sheikhupura Safe City control room where the Chief Minister observed operations and inspected advanced communication devices. This includes modern body cams, rugged smartphones, and other critical monitoring equipment. The system’s capabilities were demonstrated, showing the 273 cameras installed at 52 strategic locations throughout the city, which will support automatic e-challans for traffic violations and air quality index monitoring.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also met with local assembly members and district officials to discuss broader district affairs, including infrastructure projects like the expansion of the Sheikhupura Sargodha road and a new overhead project. She emphasized the importance of maintaining open office doors for public access and instructed officials to take effective measures to end wall chalking, highlighting her commitment to transparency and public engagement in local governance.
