Shehryar lauds UN chief’s call for ending torture on children in IIOJK

Islamabad, June 29, 2021 (PPI-OT): Chairman Kashmir Committee, Shehryar Khan Afridi, has appreciated the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres’ call for ending torture on the Kashmiri children by India in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). In a tweet, Shehryar Khan Afridi said the UN Secretary General has called upon India to end violence on the Kashmiri children, including halting use of pellets.

The UN chief in his latest report on “Children and Armed Conflict” presented in the UN Security Council on Monday for an open debate urged India to end the use of pellets against children in IIOJK and stop associating children with the armed forces in any way. The report’s chapter on India noted that a total of 39 children – 33 boys, six girls – were affected by violence in the occupied territory last year. Of them, nine were killed and 30 were maimed. At least 11 were wounded by pellet guns.
