Doha: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called for the formation of an Arab-Islamic task force to counter Israel’s “expansionist designs” during an emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha on Monday. Sharif emphasized holding Israel accountable for alleged war crimes, reiterating calls to suspend Israel’s UN membership and consider further actions against the nation.
Sharif urged the UN Security Council to demand, under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, an immediate ceasefire from Israel, the freeing of hostages, and a prisoner exchange with Palestine. He also demanded guaranteed humanitarian access for civilians, aid workers, medical personnel, reporters, and UN staff. The Prime Minister advocated for a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as Palestine’s capital.
Sharif condemned Israel’s recent attack on Doha, characterizing it as an attempt to undermine Middle East peace negotiations, and expressed Pakistan’s support for Qatar. He framed the attack as part of Israel’s broader “hegemonic ambitions.” Sharif praised Qatar’s diplomatic endeavors to promote regional and international peace.
The Prime Minister highlighted the devastation in Gaza, reporting over 64,000 Palestinian casualties, including many children, and labeled the situation an “unbearable” level of injustice that demands an immediate end.
