Karachi: The inauguration of Karachi’s Shahrah-e-Bhutto project is set to mark a significant milestone in the city’s development, as stated by Karamullah Waqasi, the spokesperson for the Mayor of Karachi and Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentary Leader in Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the project is part of a larger initiative to improve Karachi’s infrastructure, featuring the construction of four signal-free corridors, 139 new roads, and 26 mega roads, all progressing rapidly throughout the city.

The Shahrah-e-Bhutto project is not just a roadway but is seen as a landmark development expected to enhance Karachi’s economic and urban growth while providing modern transportation facilities. The initiative aims to reduce travel time significantly for residents, transforming hours-long commutes into a matter of minutes.

Karamullah Waqasi emphasized ongoing efforts under the directives of Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, which include extensive rehabilitation and beautification of major roads and footpaths across the city. These efforts reflect the Sindh Government’s commitment to upgrading Karachi’s infrastructure to international standards, with a focus on creating a cleaner, safer, and more organized urban environment.

The development is part of the broader “Greater Karachi Regional Plan 2047,” which aims to position Karachi as a modern, sustainable, and globally competitive metropolitan city. This vision includes comprehensive planning for urban development, transportation systems, housing, and environmental improvements.

Large-scale projects are underway across various districts, including Surjani Town, Malir, and East and West districts, focusing on road rehabilitation, drainage improvement, and civic facility enhancements. The inauguration ceremony for the Shahrah-e-Bhutto project is scheduled for May 22, with Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari set to officially open the project.

Karamullah Waqasi called on citizens to participate in the inauguration ceremony, underscoring the project’s significance as a reflection of the Sindh Government’s dedication to public service and urban development.
