Shabbir Shah Calls on Youth to Preserve Kashmiris’ Struggle for Freedom

Srinagar, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, a senior jailed leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), has called on Kashmiri youth to uphold the sacrifices made by their people in the pursuit of Jammu and Kashmir’s freedom.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Shah, conveying his message from New Delhi’s infamous Tihar jail, highlighted that the majority of Kashmiris have continually rejected Indian occupation since 1947, thus supporting their right to self-determination as outlined in United Nations Security Council resolutions.

He emphasized that the people of Kashmir have paid a heavy price in their struggle for resolving the Kashmir dispute, aspiring for a peaceful solution in line with the aspirations recognized by the global community. The recent extrajudicial killings of three youths in the custody of the Indian army in Poonch district, he noted, should serve as an alarming reminder to the international community.

Shah appealed to the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to exert their influence on India to settle the Kashmir dispute in a manner that reflects the will of the Kashmiri people. He urged the global community to play a constructive role in resolving the long-standing Kashmir issue, a step he believes is crucial for lasting peace in South Asia.
