Shabbir Shah asks Kashmiris to observe 5th August as black day

Srinagar, August 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Senior vice Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference and Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party Shabbir Ahmed Shah has appealed to the Kashmiri people to observe 5th August as Black Day to convey a strong message to the world that Kashmiris do not accept India’s illegal occupation over Jammu and Kashmir.

In a message from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail, which was released in Srinagar, the incarcerated leader while terming 5th August 2019 as one of the worst precedents of Indian colonialism said, “It was on this day when India stripped IIOJK of its special status”.

The Indian government’s annexation attempt, he said, was a brazen violation of the international law and the UN resolutions that strictly bar India as an occupying state from taking any unilateral action. Terming it immoral and illegal, Shah said the move was taken when the entire occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir and its population was taken hostage for more than a year by imposing a crippling siege and communication blockade.

“The entire Kashmiri leadership, members of civil society, academia, rights activists and lawyers were arrested and thrown behind the bars to enforce complete silence”, he said.

Reiterating Kashmiris’ pledge to take the ongoing struggle to its logical end, the APHC leader said India must bear in mind the fact that the use of illegal force always failed to suppress nations’ struggle for freedom and the same was witnessed in Kashmir where the people have refused to bow before India despite its brutal suppression.

Meanwhile, APHC leader Farida Behanji in a statement in Srinagar has termed August 5, 2019 as the darkest day in the history of Kashmir and said India’s Modi government can neither snatch special identity from the Kashmiris with such unilateral and illegal measures, nor it end Kashmir’s disputed status recognized under the UN resolutions.

She said the unilateral Indian actions of August 5, 2019 are an open aggression against the Kashmiris and urged the entire Kashmiri people to observe 5th August as Black Day, rejecting the illegal actions of the fascist Modi government. Farida Behanji said that the unprecedented sacrifices of the Kashmiri people would bring positive results and the day is not far when the Kashmiris would get freedom from Indian slavery.
