Severe Rainfall Causes Widespread Damage in Lower Mohmand, Affecting Residents and Infrastructure

Mohmand: A recent storm in the Dawezai area of Tehsil Pindiali, Lower Mohmand, has resulted in significant property damage and personal injury, with numerous residents affected by collapsed structures and ruined agricultural fields.

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority, the incident on August 8, 2024, led to a series of damages, including the injury of an 11-year-old boy due to a collapsed boundary wall. Several homes and a mosque suffered structural damages, with roofs and walls compromised. The community also faced extensive losses in solar energy equipment, vital for their daily power supply, with numerous households reporting damaged solar panels and systems. Additionally, the storm devastated large swathes of agricultural land, severely impacting local crop production, including tomatoes, maize, and bitter gourd.

The PDMA is currently assessing the full extent of the damage and coordinating with local authorities to provide necessary relief and support to the affected families and restore the damaged infrastructure.
