According to Kashmir Media Service, Baldev Singh, a farmer involved in the demonstrations, passed away at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala due to respiratory problems. This incident increases the death toll to seven farmers over the 26-day span of the protests, which are primarily focused against the BJP’s agricultural policies and aimed at securing farmers’ rights.
In a related incident in Haryana, a tragic road accident on the Rewari-Delhi road near Masani village resulted in the deaths of six people and injuries to seven others. This accident involved two vehicles and occurred in a region already tense from the agricultural protests.
