Lahore: Senior officials from the Board of Revenue gathered for a crucial meeting to deliberate on a range of topics including audit reports, decentralization of powers, and the establishment of a revenue academy, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of revenue services in Punjab.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the meeting, chaired by Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) Nabil Javed, was attended by key figures including the Commissioner Sahiwal, the Director General of the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA), and the Member Taxes Secretary Shafqatullah Mushtaq. Discussions focused on vacancies among revenue officers, the functioning of the Board of Revenue, and crucial reforms aimed at modernizing the sector. The officials also reviewed the progress on the establishment of a Revenue Academy, which SMBR Javed highlighted as vital for aligning training with modern needs.
The recruitment process for filling vacant posts was discussed, with examinations soon to be conducted by the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC). Additionally, the meeting addressed the promotion pathways for various revenue positions, including Naib Tehsildar Godawars and Patwaris, with a call for expedited completion of promotion cases across all divisions.
Director Operations PLRA, Anjum Zahra, provided an in-depth briefing on the key performance indicators used to evaluate the effectiveness of revenue processes such as Mutations, Khyot Mutation, and Revenue Collection. SMBR Javed issued directives to improve these indicators and emphasized the importance of self-accountability in performance appraisals for district revenue officers. Outstanding officers are to be recognized for their contributions, reinforcing the drive towards enhanced performance and accountability within the department.
