Senior journalists move Indian SC seeking inquiry into Pegasus row

New Delhi, July 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):A couple of senior Indian journalists have moved Supreme Court of India seeking inquiry into the Pegasus snooping row as well as clarification from Indian government whether any of its agencies used the spyware.

Veteran journalists N Ram (former Chief Editor ‘The Hindu) and Sashi Kumar (founder Asianet, Director ACJ) moved the Supreme Court seeking inquiry headed by a sitting or retired judge of SC into the reports of surveillance using Pegasus spyware. The writ petition also sought directions from the Union of India to disclose if it or any of its agencies have used Pegasus Spyware either directly or indirectly to conduct surveillance in any manner. This is the third writ petition filed in the Supreme Court on Pegasus Spyware issue – earlier, Advocate ML Sharma and Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas had filed separate petitions over the issue.
