Senator Muhammad Tahir Bizinjo presides over meeting of the Senate Committee on Rules of Procedures and Privileges

Islamabad, October 28, 2022 (PPI-OT): Senate Committee on Rules of Procedures and Privileges met under the Chairmanship of Senator Muhammad Tahir Bizinjo here at the Parliament House on Thursday to discuss the Privilege Motion moved by Senator Saifullah Abro against Home Secretary, Government of Sindh I.G. Sindh Prisons and Correction Services, Mr Nasir Abbas, Special Secretary (Prison) Home Department Sindh and Senior Superintendent Central Prison and Correctional Facility Karachi for not allowing the Senator to meet with Mr. Haleem Adil Sheikh in Central Jail Karachi despite the Senator had fulfilled all the codal formalities.

Muhammad Nisar Khan I G Prisons Sindh and M. Hassan SSP CP kyc was also present in the meeting.
Senator Saifullah Abro inquired about the presence of the IG Sindh to which SSP M Hassan replied that presently he is the IG in-charge since the IG Police Sindh has travelled to the USA for training course.

According to the statement of the SSP Fridays are designated as sensitive days on which only inmates associated with the Jihadi organizations/banned outfits are permitted to step out of their wards and visit by their families; while, being on security high alert, owning to the sensitivity of the day, no visits are allowed for the families/ friends/acquaintances of other inmates.

He said that the Senator Saifullah Abro despite being informed not to visit on Friday visited the Central Prison and Correctional Facility Karachi. Senator Saifullah Abro said that the statement of the SSP is in contradiction to the facts as I have received them. He recommended the committee to hold an inquiry on the calls records and investigate the matter. The committee further directed to decide the matter in the presence of the IG police after his return from the USA. The matter was deferred.

The matter of the privilege motion moved by Syed Muhammad Sabir Shah on behalf of Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Privatization against the Chairman CDA was not taken up since the mover was not present. The meeting was attended by Senator Saifullah Abro and Faisal Sajid Mir along with other officials of the concerned departments were also in attendance.
