Islamabad: Senator Hidayatullah Khan has been unanimously elected as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Narcotics Control at a meeting held today at the Parliament House. The election follows the procedural mandate under Rule 184(1) of the Rule of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate 2012, aiming to strengthen the fight against narcotics in the country.
According to Senate of Pakistan, Senator Khan was nominated by Senator Ashraf Ali Jatoi and seconded by Senator Bilal Ahmed Khan. In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman expressed gratitude towards his colleagues for their trust and outlined his commitment to leading the committee effectively. He emphasized a collaborative approach to addressing the challenges posed by narcotics.
The meeting saw the presence of other prominent senators, including Abdul Shakoor Khan, Ashraf Ali Jatoi, Bilal Ahmed Khan, Mir Dostain Khan Domki, as well as the Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb. The members of the committee extended their congratulations and pledged their full support to Senator Khan in his new role, underscoring the importance of cohesive action in curbing the narcotics issue that plagues the nation.
