Senator Danesh Kumar Advocates for Global Peace at Cambodian Conference


Islamabad: Senator Danesh Kumar of Pakistan emphasized the importance of unity in addressing global challenges during the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace in Cambodia, where he signed the Universal Peace Charter. The event underscored the roles of governments, parliaments, and civil societies in fostering peace and tolerance.



According to Senate of Pakistan, Senator Kumar addressed the conference’s first plenary session, highlighting the global need for collective efforts in promoting peace and harmony amid prevailing conflicts and inequalities. He stressed the significance of an inclusive approach by governments and parliaments to advance tolerance, advocating for education and dialogue as vital tools for building understanding.



Senator Kumar, alongside Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Chairman Senate, represented Pakistan at the conference. He noted Pakistan’s ongoing journey toward peace and reconciliation, despite significant human and economic losses due to terrorism. The senator reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to combating terrorism and restoring social harmony, emphasizing the country’s belief in international cooperation.



The conference also saw the signing of the “Universal Peace Charter: For People and the Planet,” with the presence of former Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed. The Pakistani delegation further engaged in discussions with the President of the Cambodian National Assembly, advocating for enhanced institutional cooperation and people-to-people contacts. The Cambodian National Assembly President expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s active participation and vocal stance in the conference.
