Senator Acknowledges CPSP’s Role in Medical Education and Healthcare


Islamabad: Senator Amir Walliuddin Chishti, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, delivered a keynote address at the 58th Convocation of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), acknowledging the institution’s significant contributions to medical education and healthcare services.



At the event, which also featured Lieutenant General (Retired) Nigar Johar as Chief Guest, Senator Chishti congratulated 700 FCPS and MCPS graduates, praising their dedication and perseverance. He extended his commendations to CPSP President Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal and the Council members for organizing the convocation.



Senator Chishti highlighted CPSP’s leadership in promoting high-quality medical education and healthcare delivery in Pakistan. He expressed hope for continued contributions from the institution towards enhancing medical education and quality healthcare.



Addressing healthcare access, Senator Chishti underscored the government’s responsibility to ensure healthcare facilities in rural areas, noting ongoing efforts to upgrade District and Tehsil hospitals to provide comparable services to urban areas.



Discussing medical entrance exams, he emphasized transparency and fairness in the MDCAT process, noting the absence of media reports on paper leaks as a result of dedicated improvements. He stressed the importance of setting high standards for entrance testing.



Senator Chishti also highlighted the role of a healthy and educated society in national development, urging the medical community to foster talent and growth among professionals in the health and education sectors.



Concluding his remarks, he expressed confidence in the new specialists’ potential to contribute to improving Pakistan’s health system, reaffirming CPSP’s critical role in advancing medical education and healthcare services.
