Islamabad: Senator Abdul Shakur Khan Achakzai, chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Government Assurances, emphasized the need for legislative amendments to better serve the public, particularly focusing on the challenges faced by transporters from Balochistan.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, during a meeting with a delegation from the Truck Owners Association, led by President Haji Noor Muhammad Shahwani, issues affecting the transportation sector were discussed. The delegation, which included Zahir Shah, Haji Babu Rahisani, and Younis Khan, highlighted the daily hurdles faced by hundreds of transport vehicles moving goods like coal, scrap, and produce between Balochistan and other provinces.
Senator Achakzai stressed the responsibility of both central and provincial governments to provide adequate facilities and protection to these transporters and called for unity among Balochistan’s senators to champion the interests of their province.
