ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Senate Sub-Committee on Parliamentary Lodges, chaired by Senator Nasir Mahmood, raised significant concerns on Monday regarding the absence of the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The committee, which included Senators Danesh Kumar, Hidayatullah Khan, and special invitee Asad Qasid, decided to postpone formal proceedings due to the Chairman’s absence, which was attributed to an official engagement.
Following the meeting, the committee conducted a site visit to inspect the model apartment of the new Parliamentary Lodges. The inspection revealed dissatisfaction with the delay in the apartment’s completion, despite directives issued during the previous meeting on October 15, 2025.
Committee members identified several design and quality issues in the partially completed apartment. Consequently, directives were issued to the CDA and the contractor to address these problems and finish the model apartment by October 30, 2025, in line with the approved design. The committee scheduled its next meeting on the same date to assess progress.
The Sub-Committee emphasized the importance of maintaining work quality and completing the new lodges project within the designated timeframe. It also insisted that the Chairman of the CDA attend the next meeting personally to address previously raised issues.
Furthermore, the committee expressed displeasure over the CDA’s failure to submit the Technical Committee’s enquiry report concerning work on the existing lodges, despite repeated requests and commitments.
