ISLAMABAD: The Senate Secretariat has addressed media reports concerning the acquisition of a Land Cruiser for the Chairman of the Senate, asserting that the reports are misleading and factually incorrect. The Secretariat emphasized the acquisition was part of a broader vehicle replacement initiative and was executed through a transparent procurement process during the financial year 2024-2025.
According to Senate of Pakistan, the vehicle was purchased in May 2025, with the payment being allocated from the previous year’s budget savings. The vehicle was delivered in March 2026. The Secretariat’s procurement also included replacing vehicles for several key Senate officials, including the Deputy Chairman Senate, the Leader of the House, and the Leader of the Opposition.
The Senate Secretariat has strongly refuted claims of impropriety and has urged media organizations to maintain accuracy and professionalism in their reporting on state institutions.
