Senate Prepares to Tackle Finance Bill 2025-26 in Upcoming Session


ISLAMABAD: The House Business Advisory Committee (HBAC) of the Senate convened at the Parliament House on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani. The committee engaged in discussions focused on the legislative agenda for the 351st Session of the Senate, including the examination of the finance bill for the fiscal year 2025-26.



The session is anticipated to extend until June 20, 2025, as determined by the HBAC. This timeframe is set to accommodate thorough deliberations on the proposed finance bill and other legislative matters.



In addition to Chairman Gilani, the meeting was attended by key figures such as Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan, Leader of the Opposition Syed Shibli Faraz, and several senators including Saleem Mandviwala, Irfan ul Haq Siddiqui, and Syed Ali Zafar. The presence of the Minister for Law and Justice, Senator Azam Nazir Tarar, further highlighted the significance of the discussions.



Secretary Senate Syed Hasnain Haider provided a briefing on the agenda for the upcoming session, outlining the legislative business to be addressed. The focus will be on ensuring a comprehensive review of the finance bill and other pending matters.



The HBAC plays a crucial role in setting the legislative agenda, and this meeting marks a significant step in preparing for the upcoming session. The discussions held are expected to influence the legislative proceedings in the Senate, particularly concerning the finance bill for the next fiscal year.
