Senate pays rich tribute to former PM Benazir Bhutto

Islamabad, December 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):The House offered fateha for former Prime Minister Shaheed Benazir Bhutto on her death anniversary. Senator Atta-ur-Rehman led the prayer. On the occasion, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan paid rich tribute to the former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto on her death anniversary. He said Benazir Bhutto was the first lady prime minister of the Muslim world.

Three bills were introduced in the House on Monday. These include; The Banking Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2021, The Registration (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and The Control of Narcotic Substances (Amendment) Bill, 2021. Three bills were passed in the House on Monday.

These include; The Islamabad Rent Restriction (Amendment) Bill, 2021, The Trade Organizations (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and The Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2021. The House passed three resolutions on Monday. The first resolution urged upon the government to ensure representation of all federating units in the Federal Public Service Commission.

The second resolution recommended that the Government should take special measures for implementing the Alternative Dispute Resolution Act, 2017 in letter and spirit and thereby establishing a state of the art mediation model in Islamabad`s jurisdiction for providing alternatives to litigation.

The third resolution called for giving incentives similar to other countries for promotion of Electric Vehicles and development of charging stations’ network and infrastructure all over the country. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan says government is taking substantial steps to tackle adverse effects of climate change.

He was winding up the motion in the Senate regarding measures taken by the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency with reference to protection of the environment in line with domestic and international environmental laws. He said the government is also taking steps to introduce Electric Vehicles and zigzag technology in brick kilns to reduce carbon emissions.

The Minister of State urged all segments of the society to play their due role in mitigating the issue of climate change. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan has reiterated government’s commitment to facilitate overseas Pakistanis.

Winding up the discussion on a motion about implementation of National Emigration and Welfare Policy for Overseas Pakistanis 2020, he reaffirmed the government’s resolve of providing voting rights to overseas Pakistanis. The Minister of State said Roshan Digital Account is an initiative to facilitate overseas Pakistanis. The House will now meet again on Wednesday at 10:30 am.
