Islamabad, The Senate of Pakistan unanimously passed a resolution recognizing quality education as a fundamental right for every child, irrespective of gender, location, or socio-economic status. The resolution, moved by Sana Jamali in observance of International Literacy Day, calls for the government to enhance literacy for children and youth, particularly girls, and strengthen the non-formal education system.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting reports that the Senate urged for the promotion of skills-based and innovative learning models, focusing on out-of-school children and youth with special attention to girls’ education. The House also recommended launching comprehensive awareness campaigns about the importance of education and increasing funding for education and literacy programs. The resolution emphasizes the need for transparency in the allocation and utilization of education budgets in Pakistan. Additionally, four new bills were introduced in the Senate on the same day.
