Senate Informed of Gradual Reduction in Commodity Prices Due to Government’s Effective Policies

Islamabad, The Senate was informed today that the prices of essential commodities in Pakistan are expected to gradually decrease as a result of the government’s effective policy interventions. This information was shared by the Minister for Finance, Shamshad Akhtar, during the Question Hour in the Senate.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Akhtar highlighted that the government has successfully met the target of the primary deficit in line with the standby arrangement reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She also mentioned that the government has managed to reduce expenditures as part of its economic strategy.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Murtaza Solangi, added that actions are being taken against those selling substandard items, including water. He informed that the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) is actively checking the quality of bottled drinking water and other mandatory food items. A recent quarterly report revealed that twenty brands of bottled water have been declared unsafe due to quality issues.
