Islamabad, The Senate of Pakistan today engaged in a significant discussion based on an Adjournment Motion concerning the aftermath of the recent general elections. The debate highlighted various perspectives on the electoral outcome, with calls for action on allegations of rigging.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Senator Irfan Siddiqui emphasized the importance of those with reservations about the election results coming to the House, taking the oath, and voicing their concerns. Senator Mushtaq Ahmed took a step further by demanding the establishment of a judicial commission to thoroughly investigate the rigging allegations that have surfaced following the elections.
Senator Syed Ali Zafar pointed out the myriad crises facing the country, including economic challenges, stressing that only leadership with a public mandate could effectively address these issues. Tahir Bizinjo spoke on the need for political leaders to acknowledge and learn from their mistakes to fortify democracy.
Additionally, the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Murtaza Solangi, presented the State Bank of Pakistan Governor’s Annual Report for the last financial year to the House. The report detailed the Bank’s achievements, the conduct of monetary policy, and the current state of Pakistan’s economy and financial system.
The Senate session provided a platform for open dialogue on the election results and set the stage for future actions to ensure transparency and democracy. The session has been adjourned and is scheduled to resume on Friday morning.
