Senate Delegation Meets CPA Secretary General in London to Discuss Collaborative Opportunities


Islamabad, A Pakistani Senate delegation, during their visit to the United Kingdom, engaged in a crucial meeting with the Secretary General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), Stephen Twigg, in London. The interaction, as reported by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, revolved around key issues of mutual interest, primarily focusing on reinforcing collaborative ties for advancing parliamentary democracy.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting was a significant platform for discussing the strengthening of collaboration and synergy in the realms of parliamentary and democratic practices. The delegation highlighted the upcoming General and Senate elections in Pakistan, emphasizing it as a pivotal moment for the CPA to reinitiate previous efforts, such as post-election seminars and workshops aimed at educating newly-elected parliamentarians.



The Senate delegation, recognizing the potential for deepened cooperation, urged the CPA to consider the establishment of a regional office in Pakistan. Such a move could significantly bolster the relationship between the CPA and Pakistan’s Parliament, particularly the Senate.



Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing this cooperation. This partnership is seen as a crucial step towards nurturing a profound understanding and implementation of parliamentary procedures and democratic values.
