ISLAMABAD: The House Business Advisory Committee (HBAC) of the Senate convened at the Parliament House to deliberate over legislative matters set for the 348th Senate session. The meeting, led by Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, also became a moment of remembrance for Senator Taj Haider and former Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmed, whose recent passing was marked with heartfelt tributes.
The committee, which included Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan and several prominent senators, paused to honor the late senators for their longstanding dedication and notable contributions. Chairman Gilani and committee members expressed that the impact of Haider and Ahmed’s work would continue to be felt in the years to come.
In addition to paying their respects, the committee members congratulated Chairman Gilani on his election as the founding Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC). The members highlighted the significance of this election, viewing it as a testament to the success of Pakistan’s parliamentary diplomacy, especially for the Upper House.
The session was well-attended by key figures including Senator Syed Shibli Faraz, Senator Sherry Rehman, and Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar, among others, who joined in the discussions and tributes.
