Senate Committee Investigates Exclusion of Senator from TDAP Board

Islamabad: During a recent session of the Senate Standing Committee on Commerce, concerns were raised about the non-appointment of Senator Faisal Saleem Rehman to the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Board. This issue highlights potential discrepancies in the handling of board member appointments and governance within TDAP.

According to Senate of Pakistan, the issue was scrutinized during a committee meeting chaired by Senator Anusha Rahman Ahmad Khan. The committee expressed dissatisfaction with the Ministry of Commerce’s handling of Senator Rehman’s previously confirmed nomination, and the apparent disregard for legal protocols in the process. It was noted that the Ministry of Law is currently reviewing the matter, suggesting systemic issues in the appointment processes of key government bodies.

The discussion underscored ongoing governance challenges within TDAP, emphasizing the need for transparent and lawful management practices. The committee has demanded a detailed report on the appointment processes, aiming to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and to uphold the integrity of TDAP’s board structure.
