Senate Committee Directs Removal of Senior Sindh Revenue Officer for Non-Compliance

Islamabad, A Senate Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges meeting, chaired by Senator Muhammad Tahir Bizinjo at the Parliament House, has led to a strong directive for the removal of a senior revenue officer from Sindh. The committee convened to address privilege motions against the Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR), Government of Sindh, and high-ranking police officials from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for alleged misuse of power and non-compliance with legislative communications.

According to Senate of Pakistan, the session focused on a privilege motion moved by Senator Waqar Mehdi against the SMBR for failing to answer his phone calls. Despite notices and a letter from the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, the SMBR did not present himself before the committee, prompting a resolution to express displeasure to the Chief Secretary of Sindh. The directive includes the removal of the SMBR from his current post, with notifications to be sent to the Chief Minister of Sindh and the Secretary of the Establishment Division as well.

Additionally, the committee reviewed a motion by Senator Dost Muhammad Khan concerning alleged intimidation by police officials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during a Jirga meeting. Although Senator Khan was absent, the Regional Police Officer (RPO) of D.I Khan attended and reported his efforts to resolve the senator’s grievances, leading to the committee’s decision to dispose of the matter.

The meeting saw attendance from senators Saifullah Abro, Waqar Mehdi, and Khalida Sikandar Mandhro, along with ministry officers, highlighting the committee’s active role in ensuring accountability and proper conduct within governmental ranks.
