Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani Highlights Youth’s Role in Governance at Internship Ceremony


Islamabad: Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani emphasized the critical role of youth in parliamentary processes during the certificate distribution ceremony of the Senate Summer Internship Program at Parliament House. Highlighting the significant impact of young interns on legislative functions, Gilani advocated for greater youth involvement to ensure that governance reflects the dynamic aspirations of Pakistan’s younger population.



According to Senate of Pakistan, Chairman Gilani praised the interns for their enthusiasm and fresh perspectives, which he noted have positively influenced the Senate’s operations. He underscored the importance of youth participation as a global trend in legislative bodies and expressed hope that this involvement would lead to more effective oversight and governance. The timing of the ceremony around Independence Day, Gilani remarked, further highlighted the historical importance of youth in political and social movements.



Secretary Senate Syed Hasnain Haider also praised the interns, expressing gratitude for the relaunch of the internship program which aims to strengthen institutional capacities and foster links with academia. This initiative, he noted, not only benefits the legislative body but also provides valuable practical experience and insights for the interns, preparing them for future roles in nation-building in line with the vision of Pakistan’s founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
