Senate Chairman Sanjrani Wraps Up Landmark China Visit with Diplomatic and Economic Commitments

Islamabad, Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, alongside Senators Dilawar Khan, Faisal Saleem, and Abdul Qadir, has finalized a momentous four-day journey to the People’s Republic of China, a tour marked by pivotal meetings and engagements, fostering deeper ties between Pakistan and China.

According to a news release by the Senate of Pakistan, during his visit, Chairman Senate encountered several Chinese dignitaries, including Wang Huning, Chairman of the CPPCC, high-ranked officials from the MCC, and Luo Zhaohui, Chairman of the CIDCA. Furthermore, as the Chief Guest at the International Symposium in Beijing, he commemorated the decade since the launch of China’s Principle of Amity, Sincerity, Mutual Benefit, and Inclusiveness in Neighborhood Diplomacy.

In his address, Chairman Senate accentuated the importance of adhering to UN Security Council Resolutions to tackle prevailing challenges in Kashmir and Palestine. He underscored China’s support for the Palestinian cause and shed light on the plight of Kashmiris, stressing the need for a peaceful UN-endorsed resolution. Sanjrani urged for global dialogues, emphasizing unbiased intermediation and economic collaboration as paramount tools in addressing global disputes.

Highlighting the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) within the Belt and Road Initiative, Chairman Senate appreciated China’s invitation to Pakistan’s Prime Minister for the 3rd Belt and Road Forum. He sought increased Chinese investments in Pakistan.

A significant discussion with the MCC revolved around fortifying the cooperation in the mineral sector. The conversation underscored the central role of minerals in driving Pakistan’s economy forward. An exciting project proposal emerged for Chagai, functioning under an Export Processing Zone (EPZ), promising to be a vital contributor to Pakistan’s economic prosperity. With MCC’s expressed commitment to escalate investments, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chairman Senate warmly invited the MCC delegation to Pakistan, commending their pivotal role in evolving projects into successful ventures.

Moreover, Chairman Senate’s visit to the CIDCA headquarters in Beijing led to dialogues with Chairman Luo Zhaohui centered on amplifying bilateral connections between the two nations. The discussion explored collaboration possibilities, with the Chairman Senate particularly highlighting the construction of the International Parliamentarians Congress (IPC) headquarters in Islamabad.
