Islamabad: Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, emphasized the significance of digital inclusion and the role of technology in fostering sustainable growth during his address at the 58th Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN) meeting.



According to Senate of Pakistan, Gilani outlined Pakistan’s commitment to technological development and cyber security during the meeting, which also involved the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and the Pakistan Education and Research Network. He noted the potential for regional cooperation to address the digital divide, as over 50% of the area’s population lacks internet access.



Gilani also discussed the importance of green technology and legislative support for technological advancement. He highlighted the Senate’s efforts towards creating a paperless chamber and boosting digital communication within government processes. Additionally, he pointed to Pakistan’s youthful demographic as a vital resource for future economic growth in technology and innovation sectors, particularly in the global freelance economy.
