Islamabad: In a significant address at the Parliament House, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani advocated for the empowerment of women in leadership roles within climate action, asserting that such involvement leads to more effective and inclusive environmental solutions.
According to Senate of Pakistan, the chairman spoke at a reception honoring the delegates of the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD), led by Secretary General Dr. Jeth Sirathranout. Gilani highlighted the disproportionate impact of climate change on women and marginalized communities and called for an inclusive and transformative approach to address these challenges. The event underscored the importance of gender integration in environmental policies as essential for sustainable development across Asia.
The Chairman also cited the influential contributions of Pakistani women in various sectors, from democracy to environmental advocacy, underscoring the critical role women play in societal advancement and the management of natural resources. He emphasized the strategic importance of inclusivity in achieving economic growth and environmental sustainability, calling for enhanced educational and vocational training for women in green economy sectors.
