Senate Backs Kashmiris with Unanimous Resolution


Islamabad: A resolution expressing solidarity with the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) was unanimously passed in the Senate, Pakistan’s upper house of Parliament. The move highlights Pakistan’s continued commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and fundamental rights.



According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the resolution, presented by Senator Dinesh Kumar, emphasizes the need to resolve the Kashmir issue in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and in accordance with the United Nations Security Council’s resolutions. The resolution calls for the abolition of draconian laws imposed in IIOJK.



The unanimous approval of the resolution in the Senate underscores the significance of the Kashmir issue as a political and human rights matter in South Asia. The resolution urges the international community to maintain its focus on this longstanding issue, reflecting Pakistan’s stance on supporting the rights of the Kashmiri people.
