Seminar in Peshawar Underscores the Significance of UN Resolution on Kashmir


Peshawar, A seminar organized by the Youth Forum for Kashmir (YFK) in partnership with Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University focused on the “UNCIP Resolution on Kashmir: A Tale of 74 Years Continuous Struggle.” Held in Peshawar, the event shed light on the persistent significance of the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP) Resolution on Kashmir, passed on January 5, decades ago.



According to Kashmir Media Service, the seminar highlighted the crucial role of the UNCIP Resolution as a guideline for the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir conflict, emphasizing the principle of self-determination. Speakers at the seminar discussed the historical context and ongoing relevance of the January 5 resolution and the current state of affairs in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).



The speakers, comprising prominent personalities and experts on the Kashmir issue, underscored the urgency of implementing the UN resolution. They urged the international community to pay heed to the voices emerging from the occupied territory, seeking to draw global attention to the plight of the Kashmiris.



Among the speakers were former Minister for Women Empowerment of KPK, Asiya Khan, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Imtaiz Wani, academics Dr. Sumaira Gul and Dr. Hussain Shaheed Suharwardi, journalist Abid Abbasi, and Executive Director of YFK Zaman Bajwa.



The seminar witnessed significant participation from students and faculty members of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, reflecting a broad interest in the Kashmir issue among the academic community.
