Islamabad, October 19, 2021 (PPI-OT):Like Pakistan and elsewhere in the world, various functions celebrating the Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) were held in different cities of Canada with a major function held in the Canadian capital Ottawa by the local Pakistani organisations, says a press release received here today from Ottawa.
Addressing the function attended by a large number of people drawn from Pakistani and various other nationalities, High Commissioner for Pakistan to Canada Ameer Khurram Rathore said the biggest lesson in the life of Holy Prophet (PBUH) is the purification of the self in body and soul and implementing the Prophet’s message in our lives is the only way to eternal salvation.
The High Commissioner said the life of the Prophet (PBUH) presented a model for highest standards of moral principles and guidelines for reforming individuals and societies and there was a need to study the life of the Prophet (PBUH) and model our lives on his teachings and practices which were the best enunciation of the divine message as contained in the Holy Quran.
He told the participants Prime Minister Imran Khan had set up a Rehmatul-Lil-Alameen Authority in Pakistan and had also announced to mark a 10-day Ashra Rehmatul-Lil-Alameen at the state and public level to promote scholarship and reflective thinking around the character and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Meanwhile, an online event on “Naat” literature was also hosted by the Consulate General of Pakistan, Toronto in connection with the Eid Milad-un-Nabi. Among the speakers were Consul General of Pakistan Toronto Abdul Hameed, former Pakistan ambassador Karamat Ullah Ghouri, Syed Sabih Rehmani, Dr. Abdur Rehman Abd, Dr. Taqi Abidi and Yasir Iqbal Butt.
The speakers spoke on the various representations and genres of the Naat literature which had been developed in different parts of the world, including Pakistan and called for true representations of the life and teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) through the poetic forms.
