Srinagar, Authorities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir have intensified security measures in Srinagar in preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the region. The heightened security arrangements come amid ongoing tensions in the area.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Prime Minister Modi is slated to visit Srinagar on March 7, where he will address a rally. In anticipation of his arrival, security protocols have been notably enhanced, particularly around the Kashmir International Convention Centre, the designated venue for Modi’s address, situated along the scenic Dal Lake in Srinagar.
The security boost includes the establishment of additional checkpoints for frisking and monitoring the movement of people throughout Srinagar and other districts in the Kashmir Valley. The presence of Indian forces personnel has been significantly increased, with regular patrols and checks being conducted across the city.
Moreover, aerial surveillance drones have been deployed to oversee the area around Dal Lake and its surroundings, ensuring a comprehensive surveillance coverage. These measures have been complemented by intensified foot patrols around the lake, with Indian paramilitary troops and police actively monitoring the vicinity.
These security preparations have been described as efforts to maintain order during the Prime Minister’s visit. However, the increased military presence and surveillance activities have reportedly caused distress among the local population, raising concerns over the impact of such measures on daily life and civil liberties in the region.
