SECP Alerts Public to Fraudulent Investment Training Scams on Social Media and WhatsApp

Islamabad: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has issued a public warning about a surge in fraudulent social media and WhatsApp groups. These deceptive groups are reportedly masquerading as investment training courses, using the identities of notable business figures and reputed financial corporations to scam individuals.

According to Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, these fraudulent operators are soliciting membership fees from individuals, promising them exclusive access to insider investment tips and training. The SECP has clarified that these promises are baseless and the sole intent is to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

The SECP strongly encourages everyone to rigorously check the legitimacy of any investment-related propositions and to avoid sharing personal or financial information with unverified parties. Individuals who come across or fall victim to such scams are urged to report the incidents directly to SECP through its official communication channels, to prevent further exploitation and help raise awareness about these fraudulent schemes.
