Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif announced plans to expand the scope of digital wallets across the nation, integrating provinces into a cohesive digital payment system. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency and transparency of fund transfers, building on the success of recent government programs.
Speaking at a ceremony held to honor outstanding contributions to the Prime Minister’s Ramazan Relief Package, Sharif emphasized the benefits of modern payment methods. He highlighted that digital wallets facilitate smooth and dignified fund transfers to deserving individuals.
The prime minister noted that 79% of funds under the relief program were disbursed digitally, addressing flaws in the previous payment system. The transition to digital methods has been met with positive results, prompting plans for further expansion.
Sharif revealed that the government plans to ensure 100% utilization of funds through digital methods by next year. This move is expected to streamline operations and foster greater financial inclusion nationwide.
