SCO Heads of Government Meeting Concludes with Key Documents Signed, Chairmanship Transferred to Russia

Islamabad: The SCO Heads of Government meeting concluded with the signing of significant documents aimed at bolstering economic and trade cooperation among member states. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the transfer of the Council of Heads of Government’s chairmanship to the Russian Federation, setting the stage for the next meeting in Russia.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the documents signed, including the Joint Communique, are pivotal in enhancing the economic ties and improving the functionality of the SCO’s permanent bodies. The Prime Minister voiced strong support for Russia’s upcoming chairmanship and highlighted the meeting’s success in reinforcing the commitment to a sustainable future.

Prime Minister Sharif also expressed concerns over the ongoing conflict in Gaza, calling for international intervention to ensure an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of a State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds as its capital. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing collaboration over political divisions to promote stability and development across the SCO nations.

The meeting was marked by a reception hosted by Prime Minister Sharif in honor of the SCO leaders and their delegates, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to the organization’s goals and objectives.
