Saudi Envoy Praises Pakistan’s Economic Reforms During Visit to Islamabad


Islamabad: The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Nawaf Bin Said Al-Malki, has commended Pakistan’s recent economic reforms during a meeting with Pakistan’s Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb. The discussions highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to structural reforms across key sectors and acknowledged the ongoing support and investment interest from Saudi Arabia.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting took place in Islamabad, where Minister Aurangzeb reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to implementing a homegrown economic agenda. This agenda emphasizes comprehensive institutional reforms, which the Minister described as crucial for ensuring sustainable economic growth and stability in the country.



During their discussions, Senator Aurangzeb expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s consistent economic support and pointed out the increasing interest from Saudi investors in joint ventures and business collaborations with Pakistan’s private sector. He recalled his recent meetings in Washington with key Saudi financial figures, including Finance Minister Mohammad Al-Jadaan and Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development, highlighting their productive outcomes.



The Minister also reviewed the significant results from the visit of a high-level Saudi business delegation to Pakistan in May, which aimed at exploring investment opportunities and expanding bilateral cooperation. Aurangzeb presented an optimistic view of Pakistan’s economy, citing positive indicators such as currency stabilization, reduced inflation, increased remittances, effective management of the current account deficit, and foreign exchange reserves sufficient for two months of imports.



For his part, Ambassador Al-Malki reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s economic initiatives and recognized the vast potential for investment and business opportunities between the two nations. He also mentioned an upcoming visit by another Saudi business delegation to Pakistan, which will aim to further explore areas for joint ventures and collaborative investments.
